Hello all!
Over the last year a podcast has formed! Run with my mate James Schuyler Houtsma [who runs his own blog, Mostly Movies with Shoutsma, and writes at the University newspaper with me - and in a weird turn of events, is now kinda like my boss . . .], we dissect and analyze movies, full of witty criticism and in some cases, unabashed love fests and enthusiastic exclamations for that rare flick that amazes and delights.
Sadly, us being in Mankato, not a lot of the indie productions or the non-widely released flicks make their way around town, but for the movies that we do get [and that's a good amount, mind you], the Filmography Podcast is most definitely a fun and entertaining roundtable of frequent disagreements and me lacking the words to adequately explain how extremely giddy I am for something [see: the discussion on Evil Dead].
Give it a listen! Send us feedback! It would definitely be amazing to have some. Are we amazeballs? Are we nonsensical? Too weird? Too awesome? Too intelligent for our own good? (I like that one) Hopefully, depending on the crop of writers we get for the following year, perhaps/maybe/fingers crossed, a TV podcast can emerge! Excitement, yes?
Anyway, without further ado, The Filmography Podcast with James Schuyler and Andy Simon!

July 13, 2013 - Mid-Summer Movie Round-Up - The briefest and most concise podcast to date, we quickly go through the summer flicks released to this date. For the most part, together we've seen the majority of them, and freakily, we agree more than we disagree on this one! But what's the movie that (sorta) divides us?
May 8, 2013 - Iron Man 3 Roundtable - Yes, for the first time, we dedicate a whole podcast to just ONE movie! And also, for the first time, we have a roundtable of four! Count 'em, four people discussing the pros and cons of Marvel's first film of Phase Two! The Mandarin! The comics! The suits! The Pepper Pots! What do we think about the flick? Find out! [Excited, aren't ya?]
May 6, 2013 - April 2013 in Review - I gush about Evil Dead, I rant about Scary Movie V, and Schuyler shares surprising thoughts about Michael Bay's Pain & Gain. We have a guest in the studio, a Mr. Ryan Lund, who provides some thoughtful and downright hilarious commentary that broke me several times. One of the best recording sessions ever. And I get to rip apart Spring Breakers. One of my proudest moments.
April 8, 2013 - March 2013 in Review - Jack the Giant Slayer, Oz: The Great & Powerful, Olympus Has Fallen, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation are all dissected under our microscope. It was definitely an interesting month. We recorded the Oz bit twice, and I had a different opinion both times - it's a sure sign, March had interesting flicks, but hard ones to judge.
March 25, 2013 - February 2013 in Review - Can we stomach zombie love? There's at least one supernatural romance movie this month that actually works quite well, and there's also a fifth film in a beloved franchise that just sucks. Why is it always easier reviewing bad movies? This is definitely a fun podcast, my friends.
March 25, 2013 - January 2013 in Review [Speedrun] - Direct link to the mp3, because January simply didn't offer much in the way of interesting movies worth having interesting conversations about. Agree or disagree? Hear our musings here!
January 4, 2013 - December 2012 in Review - Oh yes! Oscar flicks time! We have a guest commentator this time, as two out of the three panelists pour their hearts out for Les Miserables, Quentin Tarantino's latest venture gets analyzed, and Peter Jackson returns to Middle Earth with The Hobbit. Happy holidays, everyone!
December 6, 2012 - November 2012 in Review - Dude, it's Twilight time. The final one. Oh, yes, this is a must listen podcast! I mean, sure, we also talk about Ang Lee's trip into spiritualism, but how does that even compare to sparkily vampires fighting over a brain dead bimbo? Simply put, it doesn't! And James Bond or whatever comes out, too. One of us loves it, the other one, not so sure . . .
December 6, 2012 - October 2012 in Review - And here we have October, which gives us our first glimpse of Oscar-bait material in the form of Ben Affleck's strongest directorial production yet, and a horror movie is unleashed to the public just in time for Halloween, but is it scary enough, or just rubbish? And the Wachowski's come out of hiding to offer a movie experience that is nothing short of epic in scope.
November 6, 2012 - September 2012 in Review - The month of sci-fi and horror. We got Rian Johnson's very daring and innovative time travel movie, the resurrection of a old comic book anti-hero, and the fifth (?) installment of a franchise that just won't die. As Schuyler notes, September is full of "wonders and blunders." Aptly described, my friend.
September 10, 2012 - August 2012 in Review - To be perfectly honest, I'm writing this in July 2013, and I barely remember what this month has to offer. But that doesn't mean our thoughts aren't awesome.
September 6, 2012 - July 2012 in Review -Dude and Dudettes, the moment we've all been waiting for since the cut to black in 2008 has finally arrived! Christopher Nolan completes his Batman trilogy, and Holy Boy Wonder, Batman!, do we have a lot to say about it! And there's even more superhero talk as one of us basically verbalizes a love letter to The Amazing Spider-Man.
August 30, 2012 - June 2012 in Review - The summer continues as we suffer Snow White and hit that giant rock of a film, Prometheus. Summer 2012 offered a wide variety of film options, and June perfectly encapsulates the different types and styles the summer had to offer. Did we like 'em or hate 'em? Check it out!
August 28, 2012 - May 2012 in Review - Our first podcast! And what a divisive list of movies to go through! Tim Burton's foray into vampirism, Universal's big foray into financial miscalculation, and Marvel/Disney's big gamble that paid off biiigg ttiimmee.
