THE #1 STAR OF 2011Uggie the Dog, The Arist

SEXIEST ACTRESS OF 2011

Jessica Chastain honestly came out of nowhere. I don't know when it was in the year, but mom and I sat down in the theater to watch The Debt. Jessica played the younger version of Helen Mirren, and was absolutely mesmerizing. She never stopped impressing me. And then I saw her face in The Help. And then The Tree of Life. And now, most recently, Take Shelter. Damn, girl, either you love to have work, or these were all filmed quite a while ago and were unleashed all in the same year by coincidence. Point is, in each of these films, Jessica Chastain is a highlight, and I don't mean that just because of her beauty. When I think back on The Debt, I think of Chastain's struggle to keep her composure when being inspected by a doctor she aims to apprehend; in The Help, a naive blond who doesn't discriminate and just wants to have fun; in The Tree of Life, an affectionate mother who protects her children from Brad Pitt [weird sentence there]; and in Take Shelter, the voice of strength and support. This woman ruled 2011, and I hope she doesn't fall off the face of the earth anytime soon. She's drop-dead gorgeous, and talented to boot. Rare and awesome.

FAORITIST MOVIE POSTER OF 2011
Nearly goes without saying, this poster is clever in ways not many are. The only one next to Ides of March that could potentially receive this wonderful merit would be the poster for Young Adult, a brilliant poster that lost out because I'm unable to not be bias and shake off my particular distaste towards that flick. Still, lovely poster. The Ides of March is simple and subtle simultaneously, and I want to clap every time I look at the poster because of that. Ryan Gosling becoming George Clooney. In the movie, pretty sucky fate. In real life, eh, not too bad.

Whew! That was a lot... Okay, then, rightio, Day 2 of the 6-day Good and Bad of 2011 has been completed! Thanks to everyone who is checking in to check out the awards and write-ups, I hope you're enjoying. Come back tomorrow where I unveil 9 of the top 10 flicks of 2011. Boo ya!
