MMAM - Vol. 37

So, in case you weren't in the 'know', the Red Band/Green Band trailer for David Fincher's THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO trailer hit the interwebs last week. Very clever, very beautifully done trailer, I don't mind saying. Beautiful visuals aside, the trailer has some great music that sets you in the mood pronto. Not exactly a huge music nut, I didn't know what the hell that song was, so I set out to look for the gorgeous thing. Lo and behold, it's apparently a Led Zeppelin song that was remixed by Trent Rezner (SOCIAL NETWORK dude! Still gotta own that movie...) and some Karen O. Never heard of her.

Confession time: my knowledge of Led Zeppelin is about 1%. I know they were/are popular. That's about it.

Anywhoozles, dig the awesome trailer music! Hopefully it stays up on YouTube until the official soundtrack release.

Karen O. is the lead singer of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - she's got one hell of a voice!

Don't feel bad about the Zepplin thing. I can probably only name two or three songs of theirs.

I'm curious about TGWTDT, especially since Daniel Craig is in the mix - didn't read the books, though...

I didn't think it was possible to know how to read and write without knowing of Zeppelin. Aren't you in college, man?? Please, hang out with the potheads for a few weeks. Does this mean you don't know Pink Floyd either?

Kids! Argghh.

;)

If you like rock music at all...yeah, get on that.

Oh, and you two probably know more Zep than you think you do...you'll just know their songs from being used in advertising more than anything. "Oh, it's that one Cadillac song!"

Rachel - I just might have to check out The Yeah Yeah Yeahs now. Man, I really need to get into the music scene...

Dylan - I know who Pink Floyd is, but not much outside of that. They did this thing called "The Wall", that's about it.

There are plenty of times when a song from the Beatles is used in a movie or trailer and I dig it and I ask mum who it is and she fills me in. Then I get a puzzled, 'Gee, really? They did that?' face. Sorta embarrassing.

Trust me, my lack of music knowledge fails me every time a customer asks me about a Music Video at the DVD store I work at.

One day, the pleasures of Floyd, Zeppelin and the Beatles will wash over you...
